Thanks for stopping by my brand new website! There’s so much I’ve wanted to catch you all up on, but I figured that I should be a little patient and spill the beans on everything all at once! How fun, right? And no, this has nothing to do with any babies or potential babies, but it’s still exciting nonetheless.
So first, as you’ve already guessed, I did a complete brand makeover. As much as I loved Dear Darcy Photography, it wasn’t translating to the masses very well. When I explained that it was a nod to Jane Austen’s Pride & Prejudice, most people didn’t know what I was talking about. I had hoped that the 2005 adaptation by Joe Wright would make it more well known, but there is a surprisingly high number of people that still have no idea what it is. Then there are those that don’t understand why I appreciated the love between Elizabeth and Mr. Darcy so much. And then the third group of people simply thought that my name was Darcy.
So all in all, it was time for a change.
I dragged my feet for a while – I was just beginning to be established in Winston Salem and people were recognizing my brand. I thought I could just push through and be okay with people not understanding why I named my company the name I did. But after a few unrelated circumstances happened, Jeremy and I decided it was time to move back to Virginia. (SURPRISE!)
It is definitely a bittersweet goodbye to Winston Salem for us. We have made so many friends and connections here and we truly feel like North Carolina is and will be home to us. But we are excited to embark into familiar territory and be closer to our family. We are putting our house on the market in a few weeks (know anyone who wants a cute blue “dollhouse” with great neighbors in Winston? Send them our way!) and are still on the hunt for our dream home in Virginia. We will keep you fully updated along the way!
Be sure to be on the lookout both on Facebook AND Instagram for your chance to win a free $100 Amazon gift card! I mean, really. Who doesn’t love Amazon? I’ll be posting the giveaway next Friday, January 19th.
I’ll also be blogging a 2017 year in review soon! We wanted to get them out with our Christmas cards but simply ran out of time. And Chloe turns 11 months old this weekend, so we’ll have even more blog posts for you to be on the look out for.
In the mean time, enjoy this family photo we used in our Christmas cards!
Thank you all so much for supporting me and my business and dreams over the years! I love you all!
